Steps to Register for the Medication Aide (Nursing Home) Exam
Complete medication aide training program
A person must pass a 24-hour NC Board of Nursing-approved medication aide training program and pass the State-approved competency examination to be listed on the North Caroline Medication Aide Registry for Nursing Homes. Nursing home medication aides must also be listed on the Nurse Aide I Registry and have no substantiated findings listed on the Health Care Personnel Registry.
* Listing on the North Carolina Medication Aide Registry for Nursing Homes does not qualify an individual to administer medications in an Adult Care facility.
*Walk-in testing is not available.
